If you don’t already know about the Kjaer Weis line, you will be (or should be) happy to find out it’s a sustainable organic line produced by Kirsten Kjaer Weis. She’s a celebrity makeup artist who decided to tackle the responsibility of creating a line suited to work for everyone, no matter what sensitivities or allergies someone has. The packaging is luxurious (and therefore the price point high) but the innovative thing is you can pop out the used up containers of the whole line and buy refills for the metal packaging for up to a 30% price decrease. This is a line for people who find something and stick to it and for people who know what they want since the thought is repurchasing the products will make the price worth it.
To learn more about the brand, I went to a master class at Aillea in Raleigh a few months ago and found myself acting as the model when my over-eager self volunteered to have Kirsten grace my face with her hands. She started with applying the Beautiful Oil because it’s made for use with the Cream Foundation. I had two cystic blemishes at the time of this class and the oil didn’t bother them or cause any other problems. The foundation covered the spots with a natural finish that didn’t feel or look too heavy. I decided to buy the foundation and now with months of use, I can surely say it’s my holy grail.
After applying the foundation, Kirsten raved about her love of blush (relatable!!!) and turned me into a flushed angel with the help of her Cream Blush in a light pink shade and Highlighter in Radiance. My face looked healthy, evened-out and simple so I was excited for eyes to be done next. Even though the class had a focus on skin, Kirsten heard my pleas about wanting to try her eyeshadows and she obliged. She blended her Cream Eyeshadows in Alluring and Sublime with her fingers and “oohs” and “ahhs” ensued from the watchers in the class. The eyes were finished off with a light layer of her (genius) mascara. It’s lengthening, beautiful, and the slightest bit water resistant. If I didn’t have a basically full tube of Volume de Chanel, I would’ve gotten it. It’s definitely on my list for the future. The next step was a light dusting of powder in the t-zone, which is made of rice powder and didn’t take away any of the healthy glow I had. The last step was a lip tint. Even though most of the women in the room used the same color as me, we all made it look unique and different.
The class was scheduled from 6-8, but Kirsten went well over the allotted time and answered questions, gave tips, and took pictures. For a successful business owner and internationally known makeup artist, she was surprisingly humble and sweet. She thanked me multiple times for being patient and “letting” her do my makeup. I ending up buying the foundation brush, the cream foundation, and the cream eyeshadow in Enticing. All of these have since become staples in my beauty routine and are the subject of questions everyone has when they see the shiny silver packaging in my makeup case. Kjaer Weis is a win for clean beauty, sustainability, and my face.
