If you’ve ever had milia (small bumps caused by clogged pores) around your eyes, you know how annoying they are to get rid of. Usually, mine don’t go away until I get them extracted with a lancet during a facial. After multiple rounds of this, I found the culprit—eye creams with comedogenic ingredients. As with most skincare, prevention is key. After switching over to a non-pore clogging eye cream, I didn’t have to worry about milia anymore! Here are a few options from lightest to thickest:
innisfree Green Tea Caffeine Bright-Eye Serum
As the lightest of the bunch with a cooling roller ball applicator and inclusion of caffeine, this serum is light and duffing. It also contains niacinamide to help with discoloration.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Triple Correction Eye Serum
For being so light, this packs in the actives to truly treat the undereye. It contains retinol and bakuchiol to minimize photoaging. I’m trying to incorporate more retinol into my eye-area routine since it can thicken the skin over time. The thinness of my skin is what lends it to appear more purple!
ClearStem BRIGHTEYES Eye Gel
This contains peptides for an extra fine-line-reducing boost and doubles as a lip treatment!
Sunday Riley 5 Stars Retinol + Niacinamide Eye Serum
For something a bit thicker (even though it’s still a serum) that contains retinol, there’s Sunday Riley’s option that contains ceramides to offset the potentially irritating effects of the retinol.
mixsoon Bean Eye Cream
This is one of my most recent empties, and as someone who rarely finishes products (especially eye cream!) this blew me away. It’s super-hydrating without being too thick and makes any concealer put on top blend in effortlessly. I was very pleasantly surprised at this and need more people to try it!
